Hi Randy - I don't think that's possible currently. When you put your PSP into USB mode, it can only copy files to and from the PSP.
There's probably no technical reason why this can't be done, but I haven;t seen any software that does this yet.
Our PSP is on 1.5 firmware, so not the most advanced when it comes to connectivity. Anyone with 2.0+ able to comment?

You should really try homebrewwing it.
Free downloadable games you know. Homebrew gives you many options such as "GO!" messenger and a whole lot more visulaisations for media player for psp. I have v. 4.9 m-33 . But then again, i still can't connect to the internet through a USB cord... =/

the amount of reasons why it is impossible to use internet by hooking it up to a computer, are limitless. If you try it you will fry your psp.(that is if you manage to find a way, lol.) DO NOT TRY IT! I have done research wich proves that the difference between a computer and a psp in power, and speed is tremendously different.

Okay, If you have a Slim & Lite PSP (model 2000) then you can NOT connect to the internet through USB. The PSP automatically selects WiFi no matter what you do.
I am not aware of any firmware updates which alter this.
If you have a PSP 3000 (new model) then there are some reviews hinting that it is possible through USB. It would be safer to test if someone had a home network with ethernet ports, and buys a USB - Ethernet adaptor (very cheap). This will not send any excess power back to the PSP, and you can then alter the settings to try and get online.
If I had one myself I would be trying it now :)

'sending this from my psp' USB internet will never happen. however you can buy a dongle for very cheap which you can then set up an access point. i can recommend an asus wlan usb dongle cos it has softap. and simple for noobs to set up. ALSO..... PSP browsing is terrible on its own if you dont have CFW pages dont fully load! with CFW you can use netfront webbrowser beta 4 and it works like a dream. and PSPTube too has over 30 video streaming sites which is awesome. enable CFW for homebrew its easy to do!

btw if you dont fancy using pandora or you have a late slim with TA 88 v3 motherboard or if you have PSP 3000 with OFW 5.03 you can use 'chickHEN' which will enable homebrew. for the easy route (seem to be alot of noobs post here) check youtube for tutorials. hope this helps and brings people the joys of homebrew and emulation.

FYI asus wlan dongle is 12 to 19 and takes 10 mins to get your psp online just remember to enter the details manually on your psp if you have a problem connecting. im using my psp via one now to post ;) and im 3 rooms away

oh and if your anything like me. setup a seperate one called 'wifimax' along with xlink kai to play adhoc games online. like monster hunter. i have the asus and this which is dedicated networks for PSP. so simple. right im done posting. its a pain typing on PSP! hope someone can benifit from my posts

Ha ha lol...well leme make it clear to all PSP lover...Be it any psp all it needs is a software to run internet via usb...so am i looking for da same software in like numerous sites...haven`t found any of dose as of yet...as i can suggest is u all to request Dave regarding this issue.I am sure he he comes across many requests he wud make his people make a software like that..or who knows someone must have already madeone and we are jus outa touch with the particular link.So keep searching and do request Dave in this...go to psphacks.com and make requests

I have looked everywhere and everywhere i have looked says its impossible, and even if you could work out how to connect it, it would fry your psp. Why? Because psp and internet speeds are very different and a computer is much more powerful than your small psp so it would stuff the psp. Apparently you can just go and sit outside a supermarket and pick up their wireless interned though.

Yo I figured it out.. I compiled a program last night. so far it only works with psp 1000, but I think it will work with new psp's. Jeesh you guys should take some scripting classes its great! free software and you can keep it to your self!!!!!!!!!!!! you might be able to google me by takeo but I will only give you da software if you find me!!!! people say the main reason why psps cant access internet through usb is because of the varying voltages and stuff like that...
But I have done connecting devices such as nokia and samsung mobile phones to the internet via usb cable and it is REALLY fast... Through MicrosoftActiveSync...

It's not possible becuase the USB function is ONLY for exchanging files directly with your computer.
It's possible for a connection between a laptop and a PSP with WI-FI I don't know how to do that but you should google it, then you could share the internet with your PSP
