PSP Web browser

Hi - I know this may sound strange but i'm not a big gaming fan, but am thinking of buying the PSP (Gigapack) for the video, music & wireless internet capability (around the house). Could you please help me understand the following:
1. Can you surf the web (particularly sites like bbc.co.uk, google, amazon)
2. Can you listen & watch news clips, radio streaming...does the browser support real player?
3. Can you download & listen to podcasts?
4. Is it easy to navigate & are the upload/download speeds respectable?
5. Are there any websites that emulate the psp browser so i can check-out its capabilities?
Would appreciate any feedback/comments.
Many Thanks.

Re: PSP Web browser

Hi, Dont' worry it doesn't sound strange at all, although you are missing out on quite a lot. Gaming on the PSP is brilliant..... if they can be bothered to MAKE SOME MORE!!

Anyway......your questions,
1. Yes you can surf the web, bbc yes google yes amazon sort of (the search is a bit wierd. You'd hav to see for your self but it doesn't really work)
2. Sorry no you can't watch films coz it doesn't support WMP Real Player or Quicktime, although with the new software download i think you can stream music (don't go by me coz i haven't tried it yet)
3. I have tried downloading music but haven't found a site where you can just click to download it (there's no right click -> Save Target As on a PSP) But i no that it is possible as there is a folder for music files to be downloaded and i have downloaded other things off the net.
4. Upload/Download speeds are good because you will be using the same internet connection as your home computer. So the faster your comp is the faster your PSP is. Navigating is sort of a problem. To type in website addresses takes ages, as the keyboard is like a mobile phone (cell phone if ure American) but about 3 times worse. It takes ages and when the website doesn't work you have to type it in all over again.
5. Sorry there aren't any that i no of. All websites basically look the same but all the text is in the same font, there are some websites that are completely different on the PSP (www.yourpsp.com) but that's because they've been designed to, plus it looks completely different on your PC so you won't be able to look at it from a PSP perspective.

Over all, i would say definately get a PSP, I got mine this christmas and i haven't put it down. I'm even listening to music on it now. I definately recommend the GigaPack as you need the memory. But you do get games with that and i no you don't like the games so much.

Hope that was helpful,

P.S. If you get one and need help gettin it online (this can be a right pig) giv me a buzz. I would put my e-mail but some idiot will report it an take it off anyway.
